Stunning Mirrors for Kitchen, Bathroom & Bedroom
This month Image Glass talks to Susan Lands of Stratford Interior Design about her inspiration for using different types of mirror in an apartment renovation.
What was the brief for this kitchen and were there any challenges had to be overcome to achieve the overall result?
The clients wanted a glamorous New York style apartment with the kitchen as the centerpiece. The Antique Mirror worked beautifully with the marble surround, tying together the gold of the overheads while providing the light and reflection this small space needed.
The biggest challenge was fitting in all the appliances the clients wanted and making the space functional for two people.
This was a very compact bathroom. What influenced your decision to use Smokey Mirror for the cabinets and have a large round mirror?
The use of mirrors in such a small area is a great way to create the illusion of space. This is why I chose such a large mirror and being round, it gave the bathroom a 'softer' feel.
The Smokey Mirror door fronts provided contrast with the white marble vanity and gold leaf basin, I think it really gives a sexy feel to this small but luxurious space.
In the bedroom you decided to use Misty Mirror for the wardrobe doors. How did this enhance the space?
The full height, Misty Mirror sliding doors really gave this room the 'WOW' factor. Not only did they make the bedroom look twice the size, they created continuity with the other areas of this timeless apartment.
I love the softer feel and warmer tone of the Misty Mirror and the clients were thrilled with the end result.
